The author was asked to answer a list of questions for an interview that were to be fast answered, word association-ish. Then came the question .. What kind of parent am I? Her answer .. I am a parent who tries. This was followed by a list of at least 20 other answers from her.
So this article REALLY got me thinking about what kind of parent I am. This is not a simple question with a simple answer. I am many things as a parent ..
- I am not one to judge another's parenting choices.
- I am an over-comforter, because I don't want my child to hurt.
- I am a stay at home mom who feels like I am "winging it" half the time. What am I really doing? Honestly?
- I am an awful cook. A really terrible, horrible, no good cook!
- I am a parent who lets their child watch tv.
- I am a yeller out of frustration .. Sometimes lacking too little patience.
- I am tired a lot of the time.
- I am at fault for not always keeping up with the laundry.
- I am lonely at times.
- I am a procrastinator of sorts.
- I am too sensitive.
So, to sum it up, I couldn't agree more with the author's answer of, "I am a parent who tries." Because I too try. Everyday I try. Flaws and all.
